Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak inaugurated the headquarters of the Public Telecommunications Corporation (PTC) in the Al-Mualla District of the interim capital, Aden, on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister was received by Eng. Wael Tarmoom, Executive Director General of the PTC, and several officials from the Corporation.

After cutting the ribbon, Dr. Bin Mubarak toured the various departments and offices of the Corporation. He was briefed by officials and specialists on the progress of work and the efforts made to activate the activities of the PTC and its affiliated companies to provide services to citizens at the highest levels.

Dr. Bin Mubarak listened to presentations from department managers and heads of sections about their tasks, challenges, and proposed solutions. This aligns with the government’s and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s focus on improving services, developing performance, modernizing telecommunications and internet services, and meeting the aspirations of citizens and various public and private sectors.

He directed the establishment of an internal audit department within the Corporation as a general approach to activate the performance of these departments in all state facilities and agencies to enhance transparency, accountability, and combat corruption.

The Prime Minister also visited the “Aden Net” project and reviewed the ongoing work, expansion plans, and equipment being installed according to the latest technical specifications. He was briefed on the project’s coverage, which has been expanded to include the governorates of Hadramout, Lahj, and Abyan, and the upcoming expansion phases.

Dr. Bin Mubarak was briefed by the project manager, Eng. Mansour Al-Walidi, on the progress of work and the plans being prepared for the expansion and launch of the project. The project aims to provide services that meet the needs of all public and private sectors and enable citizens to access services compatible with 4G technologies.

The Prime Minister pointed out the importance of the “Aden Net” project as a vital national project aimed at providing fourth-generation telecommunications services with high quality and the latest international technologies to meet the aspirations of citizens and various sectors in facing the challenges imposed by the current situation in the country. He affirmed the government’s support for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and its efforts to provide a telecommunications and internet system and address the conditions of its affiliated institutions.

Dr. Bin Mubarak chaired a meeting of the PTC leadership, during which the Corporation’s plans to develop its work were reviewed within the ambitious strategy to achieve a qualitative leap in this vital sector.

During the meeting, a presentation was given on the Corporation’s plans, projects, challenges, and proposed solutions. The presentation also highlighted the level of achievement during the past period, ongoing projects in infrastructure and institutional development, capacity building of staff, and plans to encourage investment.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to redouble efforts to advance the telecommunications sector according to strategic plans and a clear vision. He directed the PTC to prepare a roadmap that includes projects, needs, partnership opportunities, and investment.
