Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak inspected the progress of work in implementing the second phase of the expansion and rehabilitation project of Al-Abr road, funded and executed by the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen.

The Prime Minister was briefed by the project’s engineers and supervisors on the ongoing work in the second phase, which extends for 40 kilometers from Al-Dhawi to Ghuwayraban, following the completion of the first phase that spanned 50 kilometers. This vital international road links Yemen with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and serves millions of beneficiaries.

Dr. Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak listened to explanations from the engineers and project supervisors about the specifications adopted for the road’s rehabilitation and expansion to minimize risks and damages resulting from its deterioration, achieving a high level of safe mobility for travelers and facilitating connectivity between cities. They explained that after completing the second phase, the program is currently studying the last segment of 40 kilometers to complete the rehabilitation over a distance of 130 kilometers.

They pointed out that the road directly and indirectly serves nearly 11 million people, eases the transfer of goods and services between governorates, and reduces human casualties and material losses that many suffered due to escalating accidents caused by the degradation of the infrastructure and poor road surfacing.

Dr. Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak also visited the completed first phase, which stretches from Al-Abr junction to Al-Dhawi, expressing his appreciation for the efforts made in rehabilitating this important vital artery.
