Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak met on Monday, via videoconference, with the ambassadors of the European Union accredited to the Republic of Yemen. They discussed developments in Yemen and the region.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister addressed the government’s efforts to deal with economic and humanitarian challenges. He highlighted the five tracks of the Prime Minister’s program, which include: achieving sustainable peace; combating corruption; enhancing accountability and transparency; financial and administrative reform; developing economic resources; and ensuring the optimal use of foreign aid and grants.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak explained that comprehensive institutional reform and the revival of the social security and protection system through relevant institutions and bodies are among the most important issues that the government will work to achieve.
The Prime Minister pointed out the collective responsibility to pressure the Houthi militia to release the abducted humanitarian workers. He highlighted the government’s efforts with the United Nations at the highest levels to achieve this.
The meeting also addressed political and security challenges and efforts to restart the political process.
For their part, the ambassadors expressed their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government. They commended the government’s efforts in financial and administrative reform and combating corruption. They affirmed their continued support for the efforts of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to achieve a comprehensive settlement to the crisis in Yemen.
