On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited the National Forensic Medicine Center in the temporary capital Aden, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Justice and is the first of its kind in Yemen.
During the visit, accompanied by Minister of Justice Judge Badr Al-Aaradha, the Prime Minister was briefed on the operations of the center and its responsibilities in examining and researching numerous cases across various fields, including criminal and civil seizures, and assisting investigative bodies in reaching the truth.
Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak listened to an explanation from the center’s director, Judge Mohsen Bashafaei, about the nature of the work, the personnel involved, and the need for more forensic doctors to enhance its capabilities and role in achieving criminal justice for the oppressed and victims.
The Prime Minister toured various departments of the center, including the laboratories, X-ray department, tissue department, toxicology department, criminal evidence and fingerprint department, autopsy room, and morgue, familiarizing himself with the latest equipment for forensic science, toxicology analysis, firearm examination, fingerprint analysis, X-ray, tissue, and autopsy equipment.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of forensic medicine as the scientific bastion upon which the judiciary relies for justice, and the significant role this specialized center plays in providing precise information to aid judicial bodies in uncovering crimes and ascertaining the truth. He emphasized the government’s support for the center’s activities and the development of its capabilities, including leveraging international expertise and partnerships to advance and elevate forensic medicine.
