The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt have affirmed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council in the Republic of Yemen, emphasizing the importance of complete support for both the United Nations and regional efforts to achieve a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, which would ensure the unity and stability of Yemen for its people.
This came in a joint statement issued on Wednesday, at the conclusion of the visit by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to the Arab Republic of Egypt in response to an invitation from His Excellency Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Egyptian side praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts and its numerous initiatives aimed at encouraging dialogue and agreement among the Yemeni parties, as well as its role in providing and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions of Yemen. Similarly, the Saudi side commended Egypt’s role in de-escalating tensions in the region and supporting efforts for a comprehensive settlement of the Yemeni crisis that meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
Both sides stressed the importance of the Houthi terrorist militia engaging positively with efforts to end the Yemeni crisis and dealing seriously with peace initiatives and efforts.
They also affirmed the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the Red Sea region, considering that freedom of navigation there is an international requirement due to its connection to the interests of the entire world, and the necessity of sparing it from any risks or threats that could affect regional and international security and peace, as well as global trade movement and the international economy.
