On Thursday, the Republic of Yemen chaired an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives to discuss providing urgent assistance to the Republic of Lebanon.

The meeting, chaired by the Acting Permanent Representative of Yemen to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Dr. Ali Musa, also discussed the provision of urgent aid to the Lebanese Republic concerning displaced persons and refugees, given the difficult circumstances faced by the brotherly Lebanese people.

Ambassador Musa reiterated Yemen’s steadfast and supportive stance towards Lebanon, both government and people, and strongly condemned the brutal and escalating Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which has resulted in hundreds of casualties, including women and children, and the displacement of tens of thousands of citizens. He affirmed Yemen’s full support for Lebanon in facing this aggression.

He held Israel responsible for the dangerous escalation, warning of the implications of continued aggression against Lebanon, which could lead to a comprehensive regional war and threaten the security and stability of the entire region. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to stop this aggression.

He pointed out that Lebanon is facing one of the most perilous stages in its history, with approximately one million people displaced due to the devastating war waged by Israel. The aggressive Israeli attack has led to the displacement of many families, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. The country is also facing a sharp economic and social crisis, increasing pressure on limited resources and basic services, necessitating the rebuilding of damaged infrastructure and providing urgent humanitarian support to the Lebanese people, which is a priority at this stage.
