The Republic of Yemen participated on Friday in the 50th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, with a delegation led by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Mansour Bajash.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized in Yemen’s speech at the session that the suffering of the Yemeni people continues for the tenth consecutive year due to the ongoing Houthi rebellion and its systematic economic war against the government and the Yemeni people. He pointed out that the Houthi militias continue to threaten international navigation freedom in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, thereby endangering international peace and security. He noted that these practices reflect the true nature and direction of these militias, which are executing an external agenda aimed at destabilizing the security and stability of Yemen and the region.

Undersecretary Bajash highlighted the Yemeni government’s adherence to an approach open to all regional and international efforts and initiatives aimed at establishing just and comprehensive peace, ensuring the end of the rebellion, the restoration of state institutions, and the return of security, stability, and development in Yemen. He appreciated the stance of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in support of the Presidential Leadership Council headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, expressing his hope to enhance this support to end the war and normalize the situation politically, security-wise, and economically.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the Undersecretary condemned the genocide, brutal aggression, and destruction of infrastructure that the Palestinian people in Gaza have been subjected to for 11 months by the Israeli occupation forces. He called on the international community to pressure Israel to stop the war, end the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, withdraw the occupation forces, and rebuild the sector.

He stressed the need for the international community to take serious steps to implement the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding the illegality of the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. He reiterated Yemen’s steadfast position in support of the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
