The Yemeni Ambassador to Japan, Adel Al-Sunaini, reviewed the status and various stages of education in Yemen, in light of the war ignited by the terrorist Houthi militias.

During his participation in a symposium held at Gunma University in Japan, entitled “Education in Yemen: Efforts and Challenges,” Ambassador Al-Sunaini addressed the Yemeni government’s efforts to support education in pursuit of sustainable development goals, which aim to create a secure, stable, and prosperous environment. He pointed to the impact of Yemen’s distinguished geographical location in connecting civilizations, and the emergence and development of bilateral and diplomatic relations with friendly Japan since the 1930s.

He praised the advanced and distinguished levels reached by bilateral relations in terms of growth and prosperity.

The symposium, attended by a number of university council members, academics, and students, included an interactive session that addressed many inquiries about education, Yemeni women, the history and civilization of Yemen, and the extent of contributions and factors for potential collaboration with various segments of Japanese society to support the development of the educational process in Yemen, and to introduce Yemeni culture and civilization.

These meetings come within the framework of the embassy’s efforts to introduce Yemen and create channels of communication and cooperation in the fields of education, and to explore ways to benefit from the pioneering Japanese experience in the fields of advanced education to achieve sustainable development goals.
