Yemeni Foreign Minister and Minister of Expatriate Affairs Dr. Shai’ Al-Zindani held official talks today with his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in the Chinese capital, Beijing. The talks focused on strengthening the prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, coordinating positions on regional and international issues to serve the interests of both countries and friendly peoples, agreeing to revive the work of the political consultation committee between the foreign ministries, and exchanging visits by official delegations in various fields.
According to the official Saba news agency, Al-Zindani addressed the developments on the national scene and the efforts made by the political leadership, represented by President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and his brothers, the members of the Council, to stop the war, end humanitarian suffering, and reach a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis.
Dr. Al-Zindani expressed Yemen’s appreciation for China’s steadfast stance towards Yemen, its legitimate leadership, and its support for peace efforts. He praised the assistance provided by the Chinese government in various fields, especially the training courses offered by the Chinese Foreign Ministry for diplomatic personnel and the contribution to equipping the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in the temporary capital, Aden.
Al-Zindani also addressed the Houthis’ threats to the security of the Red Sea and international navigation. He pointed out its repercussions and its impact on the rise of transport and insurance costs, the rise in commodity prices, and its negative impact on the economic and living conditions of Yemenis.
For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s unwavering position towards Yemen, its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the Yemeni people. He expressed the Chinese government’s willingness to work towards developing bilateral cooperation relations between the two friendly countries in various fields.
He reiterated China’s support for UN efforts to find a comprehensive political solution in Yemen. He called for a halt to attacks on civilian ships and the preservation of maritime navigation security in the Red Sea.
